The Neil Maya Quartet is excited to present a tribute to Horace Silver in Horace's classic 50's and early 60's quintet format at the Parish Hall in Harberton on Saturday 11th June at 8pm.
The quartet will be playing many works from Horace's extensive works over a 25 year period. The band will also play some of its own works as well.
The quartet is ably joined by Trumpeter Dave Holdsworth who played to great aclaim with the quartet last year on our tribute to Clifford Brown.
Entrance is £7 or £5 for U18s and students. There will be refreshments.
This concert (which is open to the public at large) is part of a jazz workshop weekend based on the works of Horace Silver.

We're all really excited about this brand new project. We've done a rehearsal and it sounded pretty cool.
We're playing the classic Brubeck like Take 5 , Blue Rondo Ala Turk, Unsquare Dance etc and some less well known but equally excellent Brubeck charts plus a few of ours in the first set.
Entrance just £5 Thursday 21st April 8pm Barrel House Totnes
Hi and thanks for stopping by!!
Music has been with me since early childhood. I feel very privileged to be able to earn my living as a musician.
As is the way with the arts, I do a number of different disciplines within music. I play soprano, alto, and tenor saxes and clarinet professionally. I teach clarinet, saxophone, jazz improvisation (all instruments) and music theory as well as running various groups including a big band, jazz bands, a clarinet group and workshops (usually with a improvisational slant). I also regularly arrange and compose and partake in quite a bit of band leading. My influences and interests lie primarily in jazz and classical music, but I also love working with salsa, funk, soul, motown, blues and more. Oh and by the way, I read music, play by ear and improvise to a high standard.
